On January 20, everyone was cuffed with yet another surge of grief when the news of Mylee Billingham’s murder spread like wildfire across lands beyond.
Mylee Billingham, just an eight-year-old young girl, was found with severe stab wounds at her home in Valley View in the small town of Brownhills near Walsall, West Midlands, on Saturday late afternoon. She was brought immediately to a hospital but was pronounced dead a brief time later by the doctors. A post-mortem deep-rooted that she passed away from a lone chest knife wound.
Right after the stabbing of Mylee Billingham, a man was taken into custody by the local police force. They later revealed that the man detained was the young victim’s father.
54-year-old William Billingham, also known as Bill, was indicted with the murder of his daughter yesterday, as well as for cooking threats to kill. He was in hospital with what was alleged to be a self-perpetrated stab injury to the stomach, where his state was touched up from life-threatening to somber and was required to undergo surgery prior to being interrogated by police.
Around an hour before Mylee Billingham was stabbed to death on Saturday, Bill Billingham posted a picture of her on Facebook. The caption said: “Pitza on bed lv moo x.”
In the picture, which was “liked” by her mother and eight other family members and friends, Mylee is seen to be tucked up in bed and smiling big towards the camera with two plates of pizza on her lap.
According to the reports of his close ones, Bill has five children but Mylee, who he had nicknamed as “Moo”, was the one he doted the most on.
Mother of the young victim, Tracey Taundry, is not trusted to have dwelled at the property where the tragedy took place. Graham Greatrex, one of their neighbours, said that the “hysterical” mother was screaming that someone had “stabbed my little girl” while he tried to rally her round on the small hours of the happening.
Former SAS sergeant major and Mylee Billingham’s uncle, Mark Billingham, who appears in a show on the Chanel 4 called SAS: Who Dares Wins, published a brief statement on behalf of the family requesting for their privacy to be respected.
In a statement made by West Midlands Police said that unemployed Billingham was arrested following the incident and was taken to hospital where he received treatment for injuries he had obtained. On the word of their report, Bill was discharged from the hospital on Friday, February 9, and taken back into police custody to be interviewed.
The detective in charge of this murder investigation, Inspector Jim Colclough, doled out a few words in regards with the case earlier: “This is an absolutely tragic set of circumstances and my thoughts are with everyone who has been affected.”
“But I can confirm we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation,” he further added.
Police have confirmed that they are treating the stabbing of Mylee Billingham as a “domestic incident”. They have said that they are still at the early stages of understanding exactly what happened and why and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.
