Dear best friend,
I’m writing this for you because to me, you’re one of my biggest inspirations. Because of that, I’m dedicating this to you, because without you, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
We’ve been through a lot together, and these past two years, we’ve become so much closer and that makes me so genuinely happy. You’ve confided in me concerning things that you’ve been afraid to tell anyone else and you’ve made it possible for me to talk to you about my own problems. No matter what, we know that we can talk to each other about anything without any judgment.
We support each other, we encourage each other to do our best, and pick each other up when we’re at our worst. When you told me your deepest secret, I wasn’t completely or fazed, because deep down, I already knew.
I still loved you for you when you told me that you liked people of the same gender; nothing about you changed to me. You are still my best friend, you are still amazingly funny, and you are still the sweetest person I’ve ever met.
Coming out can be hard on a lot of people. You never know if someone will hate you when they finally realize who you are, and that can be scary. You may have the fear that those you love won’t accept you for you. Though you haven’t quite come out to everyone, I know that one day you will. When that day comes, I will be there right beside you. Even though you haven’t told everyone, you’re slowly getting there, and being able to witness it all is truly amazing and one of the best things that I can ever help you do. You’re letting people know the real you, even when you know they can be judgmental.
Regardless of what happens down the road, I know that we will always be there to support each other. It could be 2 AM and you’d be there for me, and vice versa. You’re the person I will forever cherish and remember until the day I die. You’re the person I will tell me future kids about. I’ll tell them how strong you are and how unique you are. I will tell them the stories of when we stayed up late, sending each other the strangest videos we could find, the weirdest snapchats, and our favorite songs, because there’s no other person I would rather tell them about.
So, thank you, for always being there for me, and here’s to many more years of the best friendship I’ve ever had.
