There is no doubt that the Judeo-Christian society eviscerates all traces of other, less accepted religions. Under the wrath of such widespread conservative ideals, Satanism battles for recognition.
Deemed as a “direct, deliberate and sinful act against God,” the Church of Satan is socially chastised for their alleged ill actions and dark endeavors set to undermine the lightness and purity of Christian beliefs. Satanists — those who follow the Church of Satan — are believed to partake in acts of animal cruelty, child abuse, and drug use. To much disbelief, the actual Church of Satan does not enforce any of these actions. In fact, they are denounced in the Nine Satanic Sins.
According to the Church of Satan’s official website, Satanism “respects and exalts life.” Founder Anton Lavey created this church as an act of rebellion against Christianity and its emphasis on stagnation and guilty compliance. He set out to establish a philosophy that preached individuality, self-satisfaction, and professional advancement. Instead of inhibiting the natural, carnal instincts of man, Lavey believed that moderated indulgence advanced the human race and rejected all perverted actions the church faced.
In the ’70s, the Church of Satan consisted of over 10,000 members. Presently, the Church approximately consists of over 100,000 followers. Lured by the promise of self-sufficiency and indulgence, Satanists struggle to be socially accepted. Like with other concepts, perception is everything. Judeo-christian values automatically shun anything that tends to contradict what they so wholeheartedly believe in. The superiority complex of these people limits them from seeing the truth.
While some satanists participate in atrocious acts, the Church of Satan refrains from endorsing heinous rituals.
It’s quite ironic that the Catholic Church goes out of its way to condemn Satanists, when in reality, their priests and followers are the ones who star in sexual abuses cases worldwide.
In Boca Raton, Florida, residents condemned a Satanist church that requested to be included in purchasing banners that sponsor schools and the community. The Palm Beach School district responded to such inclusion by banning banner purchases. Unfortunately, this is not the first — or last — act discriminating against Satanists.
If you open your eyes, you will realize that not everything is what it seems.
