Throughout Donald Trump’s circus of a campaign and his equally chaotic presidency, he has said that he wants to overturn Roe V. Wade. Roe V. Wade is the Supreme Court ruling that gives women the fundamental right to make their own decisions when it comes to their bodies. Donald Trump aims to do this by appointing a pro-life supreme court nominee. His Vice President Mike Pence is pro-life as well and during his time as governor he signed an abortion law that requires a funeral for the fetuses
It baffles me that these men who lead our country claim to be “pro-life”, when they don’t believe using their power to protect the lives of people refugees, immigrants, people of color, women, people in the Lgbt+ community or their neighbors in the South.
There is a difference being pro-life and being anti-abortion.
I am sorry Mr, Trump and Mr. Pence but don’t go the international stage saying you are “pro-life” and “believe in the lives of young children”, but believe in banning families and young children, building a wall because of your own racist agenda, and conversion therapy for the LGBTQ+ community and discrimination against them. Let’s call a spade a spade and say you both aren’t pro-life, just men who believe in tearing families and people apart than the well being of women and young people.
Mike Pence, you said “Let this movement be known for compassion, not confrontation.” You can’t say let us call this a compassionate movement when there are displayed refugees from the Middle East, specifically the areas where the Muslim ban is prevalent in. If you can’t call the Indian Religious Freedom Restoration Act which allowed businesses to discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community because of their religious belief, a law that you enacted a ‘misunderstanding.’ You can’t say you value everyone’s life but believe in ‘converting’ If you are a so-called Christian like you say you are, you would have compassion, not hate which is what you are displaying to the international community.
Oh Mr. Donald J. Trump, the incumbent president that the United States, where do I begin? You believe in this world that every child is valuable and abortion is wrong but ironically believe in bans and borders. You believe that this heightened fear of Islam gives you the right to ban countries where refugees are crying for help from your government, where they are calling for countries to open the door and help them out, but you decide to close the doors because of your radical fears. You don’t respect women for your continuous and various acts of misogyny have been viewed on a public scale from raping your first wife to your infamous video of saying you can “grab women by the pussy.” You saying that you are pro-life is a slap to the face to the people who actually care about the lives of others.
Newsflash President Trump and Vice-President Pence, you aren’t pro-life; you both are conservative hypocrites who quite frankly don’t believe in the what is right for the lives of American people. You both are pushing your anti-abortion agendas and not taking in consideration who actually being pro-life is. Pro-life means taking in the lives of all: not only white cis men, but bisexual women of colour, young refugees, immigrants of ALL backgrounds and providing care for them.
Let this be a lesson: if you are going to say you are pro-life, please be able to say that respect and care for all people of all backgrounds.
