On Feb. 5, the usually discrete online company, Airbnb, enabling people from all around the world to rent short-term lodging in almost every country released a new ad for the Super Bowl titled “#we accept” which embraces diversity in all of its themes: love, religion, and origins.
The Muslim Ban decided by Trump shocked the whole world and raised a real question: are we accepted everywhere? Airbnb cofounders answered this question themselves and at the same time challenged Trump’s anti-immigration policy with a 30-second video clip which aired during the Super Bowl commercial break, reaching more than 111 million people who were watching the Patriots vs. Falcons confrontation.
In this ad, we can see faces representing different races, cultures, and genders, followed by an inspiring text:
“We believe no matter who you are, where you’re from, who you love or who you worship, we all belong. The world is more beautiful the more you accept”.

On the Airbnb website, the three cofounders of the platform, Brian, Joe, and Nate introduced the awareness campaign without forgetting to mention the discrimination experienced by some Airbnb users who sometimes face racism and aren’t accepted as they are.
They also presented their new project, “setting a goal to provide short-term housing over the next five years for 100,000 people in need”, including refugees, disaster survivors, and relief workers.
This very controversial ad didn’t fail to reach its goal: proving to the world that there are still people who will accept you as you are and that the Trump presidency is nothing if everyone sticks together to stop racism, homophobia and other kinds of abuse the world faces every day.
