Former Vice President Joe Biden is a popular politician amongst the Democratic party and he has just announced his decision to launch a political action committee. He has established the “American Possibilities PAC” and has chosen Greg Schultz to help him lead the organization. The creation of this PAC has led to speculations regarding Biden choosing to run for the presidency in 2020. Many democrats had high hopes for Biden in the 2016 election but he ultimately chose not to run. Biden himself has claimed that he believed he would have made a great candidate, however, he chose not to run after the death of his eldest son.
The American Possibilities PAC will provide Biden with a platform in which he can strengthen relationships with donors and continue to be an active member of the Democratic party. This launch shows that Biden will not be retiring anytime soon and that he will still play a significant role in his respective party. The PAC’s official launch materials states that the group is going to be, “dedicated to electing people who believe that this country is about dreaming big, and supporting groups and causes that embody that spirit”.
Biden has ran for president twice throughout his career, in 1988 and in 2008, and some hope that perhaps he will choose to run for a third time. While he has not explicitly discussed his plans for his career in 2020, the establishment of the American Possibilities PAC seems to allude to Biden being open to running. Regardless of whether or not Biden chooses to run, it is clear that he wants to continue to have a prominent role in the Democratic party and is prepared to continue working. Biden is a force to be reckoned with and he strongly believes that now is the time, “for big dreams and American possibilities” for the American people.
