What is a Plebiscite?
A plebiscite is a type of voting where people show their discomfort towards a law or a form of government. Although it’s not considered legal by any of the government’s powers.
Who was invited?
5 ex-presidents of Latin America countries: Andrés Pastrana (Colombia), Jorge Quiroga (Bolivia), Laura Chinchilla Miguel Angel Rodríguez (Costa Rica) and Vicent Fox (Mexico) were invited as observers, the latter declared a “non grata persona” by the government.
Quiroga was the one who the most applauded, and said during his speech that “the votes of millions can do (more) than the boots of a repressive dome”
What were the final results?
7.535.529 votes, in over 350 cities all around the world.
Will this stop the Constitutional Assembly?
President Nicolás Maduro, who enjoys talking to cows, has said over and over again that the constitutional assembly will happen and said on National Television that he will “take guns” to defend the Revolution.
So, with a violent president and a military force who enjoys abusing the people, Venezuelans don’t seem to have any support left.
What happens next?
The opposition leader Freddy Guevera has called for “zero hour” plan.
“We call on the whole country this to join massively and peacefully a national civic strike of 24 hours on Thursday as a mechanism of pressure and preparation for the definitive escalation which will be next week,” he added.

The USA president, Donald Trump threatened to take “strong and swift economics actions” against the country if Maduro continues with Constituent Assembly (ANC, by the Spanish acronyms)
Hundreds of Venezuelans gathered around Rome, and Pope Francis sent a prayer for the country. He has been under fire for not talking more about the situation.
Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, Peru’s president said it was a “democratic expression against the illegitimate ANC”
