Honey Trap. Sounds sweet, right? Actually, Honey Traps are North Korea’s new elite female spies and assassins. Their threat is now becoming well known internationally.
Handpicked from North Korean universities and homes for their looks, these women are now becoming North Korea’s weapon of choice. Once picked, they train for years in North Korean spy camps in a remote location in the mountains. These women are given the same training as their fellow male spies. They willingly go along with it, training in areas such as martial arts, language and physical fitness; they also train in more dangerous areas such as weapons, explosives, assassination and abduction. In these training camps, the spies-to-be watch propaganda films and are taught that they must be willing to die for the regime.
After graduating from training camp, the newly-trained spies may be sent on a mission. Some missions may involve assassination, but others could involve “seed-bearing.” Seed-bearing is a strategy used to extract information from powerful foreign politicians, journalists and military officials. The information is acquired after the female spy uses her looks to seduce foreigners. Although the men these spies seduce believe they were in genuine relationships, they were actually manipulated by the female spies into giving away national secrets. Nine months after the men return home, they’ll receive a notice that they have a child in North Korea, setting them up to be blackmailed into giving top secret information, increase aid, or they may be asked to pass laws or write articles in favor of North Korea.
This seed-bearing program was put into place by Kim Jong-Il, former North Korean leader and father of the current leader, Kim Jong-Un.
These women have also learned to work from social media, setting up fake profiles in order to make them look like everyday women. Experts have warned social media users not to accept unknown friend requests, as this is how they may be able to hack your phone and extract important information. They’ve used this strategy countless times already. Experts also have estimated there may be thousands of Honey Trappers working internationally already, especially in the United States and Japan.
Not only are these beautiful women an important asset to North Korea, but they pose just as much threat, maybe even more, to the world as their male counterparts. As tension between the United States and North Korea heats up, we should be increasingly wary of the threat these women can be.
