The alpha female of the Amber Rose Slut Walk LA and the Amber Rose Foundation is the feminist icon that we often disregard. According to her site “[She] is most interested in leveraging her massive social media platform and influence to advance the mission of her foundation.” considering she has over 7 million followers on Instagram, know that her voice isn’t so soft-spoken. Whether she’s taking care of Sebastian, twerking on Instagram or running events for her non-profit organization, Amber Levonchuck, better known as Amber Rose, is the epitome of confident, successful and fun-loving women.
Amber Rose, who has to tolerate the misogynistic world we live in more than most, has decided to combat women’s inequality issues through her non-profit organization. The Amber Rose Foundation is an organization that focuses on “all things women empowerment”, fighting against sexual violence, victim blaming, derogatory labels and gender inequality. The Foundation’s website gives plenty insightful statistics regarding rape, domestic violence, and unequal pay. One of the most eye-opening facts is that “The amount of makeup a woman wears impacts her perceived attractiveness, likeability, competence and trustworthiness, but the same survey found that women who wore “too much” makeup were perceived as less trustworthy”. Her foundation is one of the most powerful groups fighting against double standards.
The foundation is hosting The Amber Rose Slut Walk LA, taking place this October, which is meant to bring awareness to gender inequality and to help uplift women. This has caused a huge uproar on social media and has caught the attention of celebrities like Damien Wayans, Perez Hilton and Ne-Yo which have donated to the Slut Walk. Jeffree Star donated $2,000 but the most hefty donation was given by Nicki Minaj with a donation of $5,000. As of August 4th, the walk has raised up to $25,200. As someone who experiences slut-shaming every minute of her life, Amber Rose is the best and most ample woman to run such an event.
Just when you thought Amber Rose couldn’t get more versatile, her upcoming book “How To Be a Bad Bitch” comes out this fall. A book by the Bad Bitch herself will teach women how to “work hard, love yourself, embrace your femininity and sexuality, and most importantly, chase the best vision of you possible.” It will be full of helpful advice on different topics such as finance, beauty and fashion along with personal anecdotes.
If the term “Bad Bitch” is defined as “A self-respecting, strong female who has everything together […] a woman who gets her way by any means necessary.” then Amber Rose is one of the leading ladies of the Bad Bitch community. Being the embodiment of that term, she manages to defy labels like slut, stripper, and hoe and one upping others by also being a philanthropist, mom, and an author. She knows that even though she has a child she can still be sexually liberated. Oftentimes people think that the feminine and sexual don’t mix and if they do, it makes the woman a tramp. But today women are able to allow their femininity and sexuality to coincide; it is 2015 not 1848. Women have to start sticking together, rather than viewing each other as competition and help this world evolve to a place where genders exist in equilibrium; and that’s what the Slut Walk LA is about, that’s what feminism is all about.. Amber Rose is the woman of all women to be one of the queens of the feminist realm.
