To reiterate, last night in Manchester, an explosion went off in the Manchester Arena after an Ariana Grande concert. Fans fled the venue in hysterics and fear.
It has been officially confirmed that there 22 fatalities and 59 people were injured in the explosions. So far, only two of victims names have been released; 18-year-old Georgina Bethany Callande and 8-year-old Saffie-Rose Roussos. Callande was known as a superfan of Grande and Roussos was described as someone “loved by everyone and her warmth and kindness will be remembered fondly.”
The explosion was caused by a suicide bomber. The police have identified the bomber as 22-year-old Salman Abedi. He was killed after he detonated an improvised explosive device near one of the venue’s exits. ISIS has claimed responsibility although it is not clear the extent of their role in the bombing.
Ariana Grande was confirmed “okay” after the incident. She went on to tweet that she was “broken” afterward.
broken.
from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don't have words.— Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) May 23, 2017
There are several missing people who have not been confirmed as dead or found. 15-year-old Olivia Campbell, 17-year-old Chloe Rutherford, 19-year-old Liam Curry and many more people still have yet to be found.
This is still a developing story and we still have so many unanswered questions. All we can do is hope and pray for the safety of the concert goers and Ariana. We also have the victims in our hearts and prayers.
