Ever since the “cash me ousside” meme queen, Danielle Bregoli, appeared on Dr. Phil and coined her catch phrase, the young teen has received nothing but fame and fortune. Instead of being punished and disciplined for her outrageous and disrespectful behavior, she is getting applauded across the country. With 70k followers on Twitter, it has been easy for Bregoli to climb up on the social scale and receive unnecessary admiration. She’s had the audacity to call out Dr. Phil, claiming she gave him his big break and that he would “be nothing” if it weren’t for her.” Since her multiple appearances on Dr. Phil, Danielle has gotten in fights and is rumored to be dropping out of school. Meanwhile, she gets anywhere from 400 to 1,000 likes on every tweet and also recently starred in a music video by Kodak Black called “Everything 1k.”
Instead of rewarding the intelligent and forward thinking teens in this world who are volunteering to end world hunger or starting their own companies, our society is choosing to fund the popularity of a 13 year old delinquent.
The latest news regarding her fame is Danielle’s possible reality TV show. It’s rumored she has spoken with three different TV platforms regarding a reality show based off her life. Currently, Danielle’s net worth is $150,000, but this is only expected to rise if this project gets approved.
Instead of pushing for more educational programming or platforms on which children and teens can watch material that will benefit brain development, we are getting a reality TV show about an ill-behaved tween whose snapchat name is “RealBhadBhabie.”
It’s impossible for America to increase its raking in the academic standings of the world if this sort of behavior is condoned on national television.
We should be teaching the next generation to use communication as a way to peacefully compromise, not encouraging them to use their fists in violent protest. Peace marches, peaceful protests, activism, they are only taken seriously when done with poise and respect.
We cannot demand attention, but instead show the world why we deserve it.
Letting such a bad influence dominate our social media platforms goes against that very statement and teaches that you need only be bad to get attention.
Let those who deserve respect, be in the limelight.
