This year has accounted for the rise of many celebrities, including Millie Bobby Brown (better known as “Eleven” from the new Netflix original hit “Stranger Things”) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (the man who created and starred in the hit musical “Hamilton”). Along with all this newly found fame, 2016 was also the year for the fall -or death- of many celebrities, for instance, Johnny Depp (who had allegedly physically abused Amber Heard during the entirety of their marriage) and Carrie Fisher (who, unfortunately, died on Tuesday after having a heart attack on a flight to Los Angeles). And I’m certain 2017 will be no different. Here are 5 people to look out for in 2017:
1. Bex Taylor-Klaus
Bex is an actress best known for her roles in “Scream,” “Arrow” and “The Killing,” who has already amassed over 129,000 followers on her Twitter account and 276,000 on her Instagram account. Taylor-Klaus is notorious for constantly voicing her political opinions on her social medias and urging her followers to vote for Hillary Clinton; she also is a known advocate for anti-bullying, after being bullied for the majority of her childhood and teen years, for the LBGTQ+ community, which became abundantly clear when she started a live stream to honour the victims of the Pulse shooting in Orlando, while discussing it with terrified individuals and also when she came out in a tweet to her fans this year, and for the Black Lives Matter movement. Overall, Bex Taylor-Klaus is as good as an actress, as she is a human being and with the third season of “Scream” and the second season of “Voltron” already planned for the forthcoming year, it’s clear that she will be someone to fixate on in 2017.
2. Sydney Park
Syndey is an actress, best known for her roles in “Instant Mom” , “That’s So Raven” and her latest role in “The Walking Dead,” who was born to a Korean father and African American mother and has been slowly on the rise for a while. At six years old, she was one of the youngest people to participate in “Hollywood Improv,” which outlined her career, from a young age, as a comedy based one, however she has now recently integrated into a more drama based career, especially with her new recurring role on “The Walking Dead.” By being of such ethnic background, she has the ability to not only be a role model to young girls but to also represent all from her ethnicity in Hollywood. In a nutshell, Park will definitely be someone to look out for the upcoming year.
3. Nathan Zed
Nathan is a social media influencer who is widely loved and appreciated by millennials worldwide for not only running one of the most iconic twitter accounts of this generation but also for shedding light and humor in situations where humor is difficult to find but is greatly valued. Zed also has a Youtube account, in which he seldom posts on, which has arguably some of the best and most raw content across all of Youtube. He makes videos about police brutality, embracing what you have and dealing with never being good enough. His videos have helped many young individuals accept their culture (as he has embraced his Ethiopian background) instead of avoiding it, which he has stated is “all he wants to do with his life.” Overall, Nathan is one of the best creators currently on the Internet and his success will only continue to grow in 2017.
4. Camilla Mendes
Camilla is an up and coming actress who is set to star in CW’s new Television Series “Riverdale,” alongside Cole Sprouse, as “Veronica Lodge.” She attended NYU and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and was born into a Portuguese family. Mendes’ upcoming role is greatly anticipated by many fans and this hype will only continue to grow as 2017 begins.
5. Donald Trump
Donald Trump is the next President of The United States and so I plea to anyone who works in the White House to please look out for him. Don’t let him make any stupid decisions that may end our existence and humanity as we know it, don’t let him have access to his twitter account anymore, don’t let him keep that haircut and also don’t let him anywhere near the nuclear weapons, I know he’s President but I think it would be better and benefit humanity if he doesn’t even know they exist. Thank you!
(Also, Trump that final bit is completely meant for satirical reasons, please don’t send the secret service to come get me)
