She’s a sunflower-loving, 19-year-old living in LA with her dog named Larry. “Stay Smilin'” is her motto, and you can hear her saying it repeatedly on her YouTube channel with over 412 thousand subscribers (actually, I think she’s underrated and deserves more subscribers). Meghan Hughes is redefining what being a YouTuber means to many: no over-saturated boring videos, no “ways to tell if a guy likes you”. Meghan is all about female empowerment, and you can clearly see that in her raw and entertaining videos. I think she is an amazing human because she promotes self-loving, positivity, gender equality, etc. She has two channels: one for her main videos, and one for her vlogs (where she very often gives us a sneak peek into her life).
She’s sincere, funny, caring and an overall sunshine. You can realize this by watching her videos, which range from simple makeup tutorials, to her powerful rants about body-shaming and slut-shaming women and sexism in school dress-codes.
She offers a segment called “Pizza Talks” in which she invites guests over to eat pizza and answer questions from her subscribers. She also has a series called “Big Sis Advice” in which she encourages women to break the rules that society dictated for them; in her Let’s Talk About Consent video she talks about how important consent is in a sexual encounter, and in her Why I Don’t Wear A Bra video, she explains why women shouldn’t be afraid to let their boobs be free despite their size.
Although in her videos you can clearly see that she’s a really positive person and she involuntarily irradiates light and positivity, she encourages her viewers to feel whatever they’re feeling in her It’s Okay To Be Sad video. Meghan also has a really cool music taste and has several videos talking about it. She also saves time to be goofy and tell us her hilarious Uber driver stories (because trust me, she has a lot). The red-headed teenager also has an online store in which she sells various items of her own brand called “Stay Smilin”, you can check it out here.
So for 2017, why don’t you watch someone like her? Someone who radiates good vibes and cares about humans, rather than people who are just plain hungry for views and are not truthful to their viewers. 2017 is the year to stop stanning problematic people, it’s the year to discover the hidden gems in the YouTube world.
