Not only was Deadpool’s nomination for a Golden Globe very surprising, but it made a lot of fans very happy. So why is it a big deal? Deadpool changed the game with its well-earned R rating, it broke records with its $132.7 million box-office gross, and has one of the best showings of all time for a superhero movie. But it wasn’t just the money that earned the movie a place in the nominations, it was the die-hard fans that had been waiting for the anti-hero to finally get his turn on the big screen. Among these fans is the star and former Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds had been pushing for Deadpool to have a boyfriend in the new Deadpool movies while he was also pushing for Deadpool to simply, have a movie. He even had a hand in some movie marketing that advertised the mouthy mercenary as pansexual. He put countless hours into shooting the film, paying for the film, and advertising the film so yes, it definitely deserved to be nominated. However, all of that is still not why it’s important.
